As Namibia welcomed its newly appointed ministers, one name sparked debate—Dr. Esperance Luvindao, the new Minister of Health. Speculation quickly spread, with many believing that former First Lady Monica Geingos had a hand in her selection.

Luvindao was sworn in on Saturday morning as a non-voting member of parliament. Later that same day, she was named the new health minister, a move that caught many by surprise.

Following the appointment, an anonymous WhatsApp message circulated, claiming Geingos was involved in the decision. However, she firmly denied these allegations, calling them false and harmful.

“I only found out about Dr. Luvindao’s appointment when it was publicly announced. I had no prior knowledge of it and have never discussed, recommended, or influenced any ministerial selection,” Geingos stated.

She emphasized that only the president has the power to appoint ministers.
