NEEF's Kalimbo Iipumbu Appears in Court on Attempted

Oshakati, Namibia – Longinus Kalimbo Iipumbu, a member of Parliament representing the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF), appeared in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court this week facing serious charges of attempted murder and malicious damage to property. The charges stem from a shooting incident that occurred in the Onawa area of Oshakati on Saturday.

According to police reports, Iipumbu is accused of firing a shot at a vehicle belonging to a complainant, resulting in damage but fortunately causing no injuries to the driver. The incident is said to have taken place during a heated confrontation, although the specific circumstances remain under investigation.
Following the incident, Iipumbu surrendered himself to authorities at the Onawa Police Station on Sunday afternoon. Investigators responded promptly, identifying the firearm used in the shooting as a Ruger hunting rifle. Authorities have recovered the weapon, which is now being held as evidence. However, the police reported that they were unable to locate the spent cartridge from the scene.
During his court appearance on Tuesday, Iipumbu was granted bail set at N$5,000. The case has been adjourned, with the next hearing scheduled for July of next year, allowing time for further investigation and gathering of evidence.
This incident has raised significant public interest and concern given Iipumbu’s political status. The NEFF party has yet to release an official statement regarding the matter. As the case unfolds
