Prime Minister Urges Youth to Dream Boldly and Embrace Technology at Eenhana Expo
Prime Minister Dr. Elijah Ngurare has called on young Namibians to dream boldly, embrace technology, and pursue entrepreneurship with integrity and determination, saying innovation and fresh ideas have the power to transform the country’s economy.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Ohangwena Regional Governor, Hon. Kadiva Hamutumwa during the official opening of the Eenhana Expo, Dr. Ngurare said young people must seize opportunities to build businesses, create employment opportunities, and improve livelihoods.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating opportunities through quality education, technical and vocational training, entrepreneurship support, digital innovation, industrialisation, and strategic partnerships to ensure that every young Namibian can participate meaningfully in the economy.
He said the Eighth Administration has introduced the National Youth Development Fund to support viable youth-owned businesses in all 14 regions of Namibia.
The fund targets young entrepreneurs up to the age of 45 and aims to help them expand their small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and cooperatives.
Dr. Ngurare encouraged young entrepreneurs attending the Expo to take advantage of the fund to grow their businesses and contribute to the country’s economic development.
He also highlighted the economic benefits of the Eenhana Expo, saying the event attracts visitors from across Namibia, boosting business activity in Eenhana and increasing sales for local traders, retailers, and service providers.
The Prime Minister further called on financial institutions, development partners, and established businesses to mentor and invest in emerging enterprises, stressing that sustainable economic transformation requires strong collaboration between government, local authorities, the private sector, and civil society.
