Six-year-old girl killed by tourist bus while trying to save puppy

A six-year-old girl was killed after she reportedly ran into the road in an attempt to save a puppy before being struck by a tourist bus near Kayengona in the Kavango East Region on Thursday morning.
According to Kavango East Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu, the tourist bus was travelling along the Trans-Caprivi Highway when the driver allegedly swerved to the far right in an effort to avoid hitting a puppy.
Police said the young girl then ran into the road while trying to rescue the puppy and was struck by the bus.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened, and police investigations into the fatal crash are ongoing.
The girl’s body was transported to the Rundu State Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
