One employee of the Central Northern Regional Electricity Distributor (Cenored) died and three others were injured in an apparent electrocution incident while carrying out maintenance work in Tsumeb on Thursday night.

One worker were declared dead following the incident, while their injured colleagues were rushed to Tsumeb State Hospital for treatment.

A relative of one of the injured employees claimed that the worker suffered severe injuries and may require the amputation of a leg. However, this information had not been independently confirmed at the time of publication.

Details surrounding the incident remain limited. Preliminary reports suggest the employees were working on an electricity line when the accident occurred.

When contacted for comment, Cenored spokesperson Charles Matengu said he was attending a meeting related to the incident and was not yet able to provide further information. He indicated that the company is expected to issue an official statement.
