The search for Namibia’s next generation of football talent is underway as the Namibia Football Association (NFA) conducts Under-15 Boys national team trials at the Windhoek High School sports ground.

The trials form part of preparations for the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan this October, with the NFA aiming to assemble a competitive squad for the international event.

A total of 48 young players have been called up for assessment, including members of the team that represented Namibia at the CAF African Schools Football Championship in Stellenbosch last year, as well as two additional talents identified from each region of the country.

The selection process is being overseen by NFA Technical Development Scheme (TDS) Officer Nicholas Jacobs, who led the scouting efforts. He was supported by regional scouts Dawid Gaweseb from Erongo, Nabot Shikuni from Oshana, and Mario Hongolo from Kavango East, who contributed to identifying promising players from across Namibia.

The ongoing trials are expected to play a key role in shaping Namibia’s U-15 squad as the country prepares for its participation on the global stage.
