Kavango West Third Division Chairman Explains Controversial Points Decision as Satoka FC Disputes Process
The Chairman of the Kavango West Third Division Upper Stream, Mr. Hauwombo Eduard, has responded to concerns surrounding the awarding of points to certain clubs following allegations that Real Top Challengers FC fielded an ineligible player.
Speaking to The Updated World in a telephone interview, Eduard confirmed that both Red Stars FC and Chippo Stars FC were awarded points after it was established that Real Top Challengers FC had used an ineligible player.
According to Eduard, Red Stars FC lodged a formal complaint within the required 24-hour period after their match against Real Top Challengers FC. He said the club submitted the necessary evidence to support its case, while Real Top Challengers FC also admitted that the player in question had been used. He added that the Executive Committee took about two weeks to investigate and finalise the matter before making its ruling.
Eduard acknowledged that Satoka FC’s case is similar, as the same player also featured in their match against Real Top Challengers FC. However, he said Satoka FC’s incident took place about two months ago and the club was requested to provide supporting evidence, which, according to him, was never submitted.
The chairman further revealed that the Executive Committee held a meeting with clubs on Friday to explain the decision. He said the clubs that attended the meeting understood the process and had not raised any complaints.
However, Satoka FC has disputed parts of the chairman’s explanation.
The club told The Updated World that it was never asked to provide a team sheet or any other proof regarding its match against Real Top Challengers FC. Satoka FC said it was only informed that the incident had occurred too long ago and that no request for evidence was made.
The club added that, if required, the official team sheet could be obtained from the match referee to verify that the player participated in the fixture.
