Man Denied Bail After Alleged Murder of Four-Year-Old Daughter in Omusati

A 24-year-old man accused of killing his four-year-old daughter, Ellenester Commando Nako, will remain in custody after the Outapi Magistrate’s Court denied him bail during his first court appearance.
The suspect appeared before the court on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, where the matter was postponed to 30 November 2026 to allow police to continue with further investigations.
Omusati Regional Police Commander Commissioner Ismael Basson confirmed that the accused was not granted bail and remains in police custody.
The alleged incident took place on 29 July 2026 between 13h30 and 17h26 at Oshifo Village in the Ruacana Constituency, Omusati Region.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly assaulted the child with an unknown object, causing serious injuries to her head and back. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused and the child were the only individuals inside the house at the time of the incident.
Police have not yet determined the motive behind the alleged killing, while investigations into the matter are ongoing.
