The Commission has called on all eligible voters to participate peacefully and urged political parties, candidates and supporters to conduct themselves in accordance with Zambia’s electoral laws.

The ECZ said preparations for the elections are progressing in line with the electoral timetable and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a credible, transparent and peaceful electoral process.

The elections are expected to draw close attention from regional and international observers, including the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union, which have traditionally deployed observer missions during major elections in the region.

The outcome of the elections will determine Zambia’s political leadership for the next five years, with campaigns largely centred on economic recovery, employment, energy, mining, healthcare and education.
