Okahandja Soldier Found Dead at Home in Suspected Suicide

Police in the Otjozondjupa Region are investigating the death of a 48-year-old Namibian soldier whose body was discovered at his residence in Okahandja on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Wilbard Nuyoma Nkandi, was found hanging inside the toilet of his home at Erf 443 in Five Rand Location.
According to Otjozondjupa police regional community liaison officer Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the matter was reported to police at approximately 11:40 on August 14, 2026.
Investigators also found a suicide note in which Nkandi reportedly referred to personal problems. Police are consequently treating the death as a suspected suicide while investigations continue.
Mbeha confirmed that the deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
Authorities are continuing to establish the circumstances that led to Nkandi’s death.
