New Judges Appointed as Judiciary Moves to Ease Court Pressure
The Namibian Judiciary has strengthened its judicial capacity with the appointment of four Acting Judges, aimed at supporting the courts in handling cases efficiently and reducing pressure on the permanent judicial complement.
Two judges from Lesotho, Realeboha Mathaba and Polo Banyane, began serving as Acting Judges on 1 September 2026.
The Judiciary has also appointed Deon Obbes and Kandiwapa Nembia as Acting Judges, with their appointments taking effect on 1 October 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Judiciary, the appointments are intended to supplement the existing number of permanent judges and assist the courts in carrying out their responsibilities without unnecessary delays.
The move is expected to strengthen the courts’ ability to deal with matters before them and contribute to the timely administration of justice.
