Ricardo Mannetti Tips African Stars To Have The Edge Against Orlando Pirates
African Stars FC have been urged to use every possible means to overcome South African giants Orlando Pirates when the two sides meet in the CAF Champions League.
Former Brave Warriors coach Riccardo Manetti made the remarks during the official launch of Standard Bank Namibia’s URewards campaign at the Standard Bank Head Office in Kleine Kuppe, Windhoek on Tuesday.
Manetti encouraged African Stars to approach the encounter with determination and make full use of every opportunity available to them.
“They have to use all means to overcome Orlando Pirates. It will not be an easy game, but African Stars have to believe in themselves and fight for the result,” Manetti said.
African Stars are set to face Orlando Pirates in a two-legged encounter, with the first leg scheduled for 17 October 2026 at the National Stadium in Gaborone, Botswana. The return leg will take place on 23 October 2026.
The match-up has attracted significant interest in Namibia, with Standard Bank Namibia using the occasion to launch its URewards football campaign.
The campaign gives one lucky football fan and Standard Bank client the opportunity to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Johannesburg, South Africa, to watch African Stars face Orlando Pirates live.
To qualify, participants must be Standard Bank clients and complete at least 12 qualifying card swipes during the campaign period.
The campaign started on 28 September 2026 and will close on 18 October 2026.
Standard Bank Namibia is encouraging its clients and football supporters to take part in the campaign and stand a chance of experiencing the highly anticipated fixture live in Johannesburg.
