President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on all Namibians to drive safely and avoid drinking and driving during the Easter weekend.
Speaking ahead of the holiday, President Nandi-Ndaitwah reminded citizens that Easter is a time when many people travel to their home villages to celebrate with family, making the roads busier than usual. She said this increase in travel often leads to more road accidents, which remain a major concern for the nation.
“I urge all drivers to be responsible and to obey traffic rules. Please do not drink and drive. Let us protect lives and ensure that everyone gets to their destination safely,” the president said.
As Christians in Namibia and around the world observe Easter from Friday, the president encouraged citizens to use the time for love, reflection, and spiritual renewal.
“It is a time to pause, draw closer to our loved ones, and appreciate the gift of life and togetherness. Let this season also inspire unity and compassion among all Namibians as we continue to build a just and inclusive society,” said Nandi-Ndaitwah.
She concluded by wishing the nation a peaceful and meaningful Easter weekend, filled with joy and safety.
