A 45-Year-Old Cleaner Found Hanging in Bathroom of Rented Room – The Updated World

A 45-year-old woman was found dead in what appears to be a case of suicide at Osheendelela Flats in Ongwediva’s Onambiba location early Sunday morning.

The deceased, identified as Iyambo Sesilia Kiimba, was discovered hanging in the bathroom of her rented room. She was originally from Iikokola village in the Omusati Region and worked as a cleaner at Oshana Gymnasium Private School. According to school records, she was last seen at work on Friday, 1 August 2025.

The shocking discovery was made by Mr. Jafet, the caretaker of the property, who had been conducting his usual morning rounds. He became concerned after noticing that the door to Iyambo’s room was tied shut with a cloth instead of being locked with a key something he described as unusual, given that all rooms are typically secured with proper locks.

After calling out and getting no response, Mr. Jafet untied the cloth and entered the room, only to find Iyambo’s lifeless body in the bathroom.

The police were immediately alerted and responded swiftly to the scene. A note believed to be a suicide note was found at the scene, although the contents of the note have not been disclosed. Her body was taken to the Oshakati Police Mortuary for further examination.

According to authorities, no signs of foul play were found, and the matter is being treated as a suspected suicide. Her next of kin have been notified.

The incident has left residents and colleagues at Oshana Gymnasium Private School in shock, with many expressing sorrow over the untimely loss of a woman described as kind and hardworking.

Police investigations continue to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. Anyone in distress or struggling with mental health is urged to seek help from professionals or reach out to loved ones.
