A 25-year-old man, identified as Haihengo Meichoir, was found dead after allegedly taking his own life at Bunya village on the night of Saturday, 20 September 2025.
According to the Kavango West police, the deceased reportedly returned home under the influence of alcohol and entered a room where his five-year-old daughter was sleeping. It is alleged that the child’s mother later walked in and found Meichoir half-naked, while their daughter was undressed.
A confrontation reportedly followed, escalating into a physical altercation between the two parents. The deceased’s father intervened and separated them. The child’s mother allegedly threatened to report the matter to the police before leaving to sleep in another hut.
The next morning, Meichoir was discovered hanging from the roof of his hut. No foul play is suspected, and police have confirmed that his next of kin have been notified.
Authorities say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
