Omaheke Region has received a food donation from the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare.
Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare and Minister Dr. Emma Kantema handed over the donation to Omaheke Governor Hon. Pio Nganate. The donation included 380 packs of white sugar, 377 bottles of 2-litre cooking oil, 440 tins of 400g fish, and 250 bags of 10kg Top Score Maize Meal.
During the handover, Dr. Ngurare said soup kitchens are very important because they help save lives. He also explained that the government plans to drill boreholes and create community gardens to improve food security across the country.
Dr. Kantema said the donation “plants seeds of hope beyond our imagination” and shows the government’s commitment to helping people live better lives.
Governor Nganate thanked the Prime Minister for the support and said that while the donation is helpful, long-term solutions are needed to fight hunger in the region.
