The Affirmative Repositioning (AR) movement has filed a police case at the Outapi Police Station after one of its campaign posters was allegedly destroyed by a Swapo supporter at Omaulayi near Omuulukila in the Omusati Region.
The incident reportedly happened on Sunday, 9 November, while AR members were conducting campaign activities in the Outapi Constituency.
According to AR’s Outapi District chairperson, Petrus Shiweva, the situation unfolded when a Swapo supporter allegedly grabbed a campaign poster from one of their activists, tore it apart, and began hurling insults at the group. Shiweva further claimed that the individual attempted to start a physical fight with the AR members before other people intervened.
He said the matter was reported to the police immediately, and a case has since been opened for further investigation.
Shiweva urged all political supporters to maintain peace and respect during the election period, emphasizing that such actions threaten democracy and the right of every party to campaign freely.
The police are yet to comment on the incident.
