
An eight-year-old girl, Rauna Mekondjo Mukulu, tragically drowned after slipping into the NamWater canal at Etunda village, police have confirmed.
According to the incident report, the child accidentally fell into the canal, and efforts to rescue her were unsuccessful. She was later retrieved and declared deceased.
Her family has been informed, and an inquest into the incident has been opened.
Authorities continue to warn communities living near open canals about the dangers they pose, especially to children.
