Amoomo plan Legal Action Against City Police After Charges against his client Dropped

Shaun Gariseb’s lawyer, Kadhila Amoomo, has indicated that he may pursue legal action against the City Police following the abrupt withdrawal of all charges against his client at the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Gariseb, a Windhoek activist, had earlier staged a protest at the City of Windhoek offices, dumping sewage waste at the entrance to draw attention to unresolved sanitation issues affecting residents.
Amoomo described the court proceedings as chaotic, saying the prosecution suddenly refused to proceed. “As soon as we appeared in court, no prosecutor seemed aware of the case. No one wanted to take the matter forward,” he explained.
The lawyer now claims that Gariseb was subjected to “an arbitrary criminal process” and confirmed that his legal team is examining options for holding the City Police accountable.
Gariseb’s protest highlighted what he described as the municipal authorities’ ongoing failure to address critical sanitation problems in Windhoek.
