Body of 18-year-old boy Recovered Days After Drowning in Kavango River

The remains of an 18-year-old boy who drowned earlier this week in the Kavango River have been recovered near Kahenge in the Kavango West Region.
The victim, identified as Robert Sikongo Imarwa, went missing on Tuesday evening, 25 November 2025, after he was swept away by strong currents while attempting to cross the river with three friends. The incident occurred at around 19h40.
According to Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga, Imarwa reportedly disappeared shortly after entering the water and could not be located despite immediate efforts by those who were with him.
A coordinated search by emergency responders and community members continued for two days. His body was finally discovered on Thursday morning, 27 November 2025, at Kahenge.
Police have since notified the deceased’s family, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
