Woman Arrested in Wanaheda After Infant Found Buried

Authorities have taken a 30-year-old woman into custody following the discovery of a newborn’s body buried behind a residential shack in Wanaheda.

Police say the child, reportedly just a week old, was found in a shallow grave after officers responded to information about suspicious activity at the location. Investigations revealed that the woman gave birth on Christmas Day and, after being discharged from hospital, allegedly buried the infant on 2 January 2026, claiming the baby had stopped moving.

The suspect is now facing charges of murder and obstructing justice. Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing as they continue to piece together the events surrounding the child’s death.
