Angolan man arrested in Ohangwena for alleged killing of wife

An Angolan national has been arrested in the Ohangwena Region in connection with the alleged murder of his 22-year-old wife at Ekuma village in the Epembe Constituency.

Police reports indicate that the woman was allegedly killed on Sunday night at around 21:30 after being strangled in a bush near the village. The incident is believed to be linked to domestic violence.

After the alleged killing, the suspect reportedly went to nearby cuca shops where he informed community members that he had killed his wife. He later returned to the homestead and reported the incident to the house owner.

The woman’s body was discovered the following day by housemates and community members, who then alerted the police.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Eenhana District State Hospital after allegedly stabbing himself in an apparent suicide attempt. Police confirmed that his condition is stable.

Investigations into the matter are continuing.
