Tragic Shack Fire Claims Two Lives in Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay

Early Tuesday morning, a devastating shack fire in Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay, claimed the lives of two people, including a young child.
According to police reports, the blaze broke out around 03h00 on Kilimanjaro Street. Neighbours were alerted by screams and rushed outside, only to find the shack already engulfed in flames.
Local residents reportedly tried to break through the hardboard walls to save those trapped inside. However, the fire quickly spread to adjacent shacks, forcing rescue efforts to halt for safety reasons.
The Walvis Bay Fire Brigade responded promptly and managed to bring the fire under control. In total, six shacks were destroyed, leaving 14 people affected.
Tragically, two occupants of the shack where the fire started did not survive. They have been identified as 20-year-old Beauty Guidao-Oas and her daughter, Gloria Guibes, aged two years and five months.
Next of kin have been informed, and police continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the fire.
