A quiet afternoon at the Kavango River turned into a nightmare when a crocodile attacked a 69-year-old man from Mbapuka village in the Mukwe Constituency, severing his arm.

Karen Muduva is currently receiving treatment at Rundu State Hospital following the horrific incident that occurred on Sunday while he was collecting water from the river. According to Muduva, the reptile struck without warning as he turned to fill his bucket.

The crocodile reportedly emerged from shallow water and clamped its jaws around his arm. His desperate screams drew the attention of nearby villagers, who rushed to assist him. In the struggle to pull him free, the animal tore off his entire arm before slipping back into the river.

The shocking incident has left the Mbapuka community shaken and has renewed concerns about the growing threat posed by crocodiles along the Kavango River, particularly for residents who depend on the river for daily household needs.
