Okongo Village Council Engages Informal Traders on Relocation Progress
The Okongo Village Council says it has held a meeting with informal traders to assess progress on the relocation of businesses from road reserves to a designated open space in front of the new Open Market.
According to the council, the engagement focused on reviewing the relocation process, addressing concerns raised by traders, and discussing the way forward to ensure a smooth transition.
The relocation exercise began on 27 July 2026 and is expected to be completed by 7 August 2026, the council said.
The council stated that the meeting was aimed at strengthening cooperation with informal traders, whom it described as an important part of the local economy.
It added that the relocation is intended to improve safety, enhance order within the village, and create a more business-friendly environment that supports sustainable economic growth.
The council further reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with traders throughout the relocation process and ensuring that concerns are addressed through continued dialogue.
