Arsenal Thrash Manchester City 3-0 to Lift Community Shield

Arsenal have started the 2026/27 season with silverware after defeating Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield, winning the trophy for the 18th time in their history.
The Gunners took the lead after just one minute when Riccardo Calafiori found the back of the net, giving Arsenal an early advantage.
Kai Havertz doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 28th minute before captain Martin Ødegaard added a third goal shortly after the restart in the 48th minute.
The victory gives Arsenal their 18th outright Community Shield title, further strengthening their record in the traditional season-opening fixture.
The result also extends Arsenal’s impressive record against Manchester City in Community Shield finals. The two sides have now met four times in the final, with Arsenal winning all four encounters.
Arsenal previously defeated City 4-0 in 1934, 3-0 in 2014, and won the 2023 meeting on penalties after a 1-1 draw. They have now added another convincing 3-0 victory in 2026.
Arsenal therefore remain unbeaten against Manchester City in Community Shield finals, having scored 11 goals and conceded only one across the four meetings in normal time.
The 3-0 victory provides Arsenal with an early boost ahead of the new campaign, while Manchester City will be looking to respond when the competitive season gets underway.
