Bunya Catholic Church’s 44-year-old priest was arrested on Friday night for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol in Sikindi village, Kavango West region.
The arrest occurred at around 23h00 on the B10 road. According to a source close to the incident, the priest was reportedly in the company of young girls at the time of his arrest.
Police claim the priest was driving a white Toyota Corolla while under the influence of alcohol and possibly other substances with narcotic effects.
He was granted bail the following day, Saturday, and is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday, 16 December 2024, to face charges related to the incident.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
