N$90 Million Football Investment Comes With Accountability Call

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called for strict accountability in the use of Namport’s N$90 million sponsorship to the Namibia Football Association (NFA), saying the investment must create a meaningful impact across the country.
Namibia Ports Authority (Namport) has committed historical sponsorship of N$90 million to the NFA over three years through the Namibian Government’s sports dividend programme, amounting to N$30 million annually.
The President made the call when Namport formally presented a symbolic cheque for the three-year sponsorship, which will support football development in Namibia.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said every dollar must be properly accounted for and urged the NFA to ensure that all regions receive a fair share of the funding so that communities nationwide benefit.
She welcomed Namport’s contribution, noting that sport is among the priorities of the Eighth Administration, and said the sponsorship sets a strong example for other stakeholders to support the growth of sport.
The commitment follows a promise made by Prime Minister Elia Ngurare last week regarding increased support for Namibian football.
