North West First Division Will Not Kick Off Until Last Season’s Prize Money Is Paid

The North West Stream First Division will not begin its 2026/2027 season this weekend as clubs continue to wait for outstanding payments from the previous season and starting capital for the new campaign.
The Updated World has confirmed the development with the stream’s Executive Committee representative and participating clubs, who have indicated that they will not take to the field this weekend.
The decision follows meetings held by the clubs earlier this week, during which they reportedly agreed that the new season would only commence once both the outstanding funds from the previous season and the 2026/2027 starting capital had been received.
The clubs had given the Namibia Football Association (NFA) until Wednesday, 4 November, to respond to their concerns and settle the outstanding payments. However, as of Friday, 6 November, the funds had reportedly not been received, with the clubs expressing frustration over the lack of a response.
The clubs have maintained that receiving starting capital alone will not be sufficient to get the competition underway, insisting that the outstanding prize money owed to deserving teams must also be settled.
The development comes just a day before the NFA’s planned league kick-off date of Saturday, 7 November 2026, which was communicated as the start date for the various football league streams.
For the North West Stream First Division, the clubs’ position remains clear: the season will only begin once the outstanding payments and new season funding have been received.
