Two Killed in B1 Road Accident in Zambezi Region

Two people have died and several others were injured after a university-owned vehicle overturned in the Mubiza area along the B1 road early this morning.
The deceased have been identified as a 48-year-old Zimbabwean man and a 20-year-old Namibian woman.
The Zimbabwean national was reportedly part of a delegation that attended the official signing of the KAZA-TFCA consortium agreement at the University of Namibia’s Katima Mulilo campus.
According to Zambezi Regional Police Commander Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo, the victims were among 10 University of Namibia staff members travelling from Katima Mulilo to Botswana in a Toyota Land Cruiser when the accident occurred.
Sakuwa-Neo said the vehicle was being driven by a 45-year-old Zimbabwean national when one of its tyres burst, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle subsequently overturned.
The remaining occupants, who are Namibian and Zimbabwean nationals aged between 23 and 61, sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.
The police commander said the next of kin of the deceased had not yet been informed at the time of reporting.
