Namibia Engages Global Tech Giants on Digital Content Monetisation

Namibia is exploring ways to expand digital income opportunities for local content creators following discussions between the government and major technology companies.
Information and Communication Technology Minister Emma Theofelus took part in a virtual engagement with representatives from Meta, Microsoft and Google, including YouTube, on Friday, 23 October 2026.
The meeting was hosted by United States Ambassador to Namibia John Giordano and focused on the country’s digital and creative industries.

Discussions centred on the requirements for monetising content on major digital platforms and the opportunities available to Namibian creators to earn income from their online work.
The engagement also highlighted the need for continued cooperation and dialogue to help local creators participate more effectively in the digital economy.
However, the discussions were focused on understanding monetisation requirements and opportunities, with no specific changes to platform access or monetisation policies announced.
