In a recent development, Swapo member of parliament, Pohamba Shifeta, has spoken out on his omission from the cabinet, following his exclusion from the parliamentary list for the 8th parliament.

Shifeta, who previously served as the Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, addressed the media on his removal from the cabinet, stating that he will not assume that his challenge to President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at the 2022 Swapo party elective congress was the reason for his dropping.

” Freedom of choice, we freed this country, we have established democracy, and we even institutionalized that in our own institution,” Shifeta said.

He further stated, “I don’t think anyone would think that because of this, I will then do this. I don’t want to assume that way.”

Shifeta’s comments suggest that he is not reading into his removal from the cabinet and is instead choosing to take a more measured approach.

“Whatever happened, happened,” he said, indicating that he has accepted the decision.

Shifeta’s decision not to speculate on the reasons behind his removal from the cabinet has sparked interest among political analysts and Namibian citizens. The Swapo member of parliament has maintained a dignified silence on the matter, fueling speculation about his future in politics.

The Namibian government and Swapo party have yet to comment on Shifeta’s remarks. However, sources close to the party indicate that Shifeta’s omission from the cabinet was a strategic decision, aimed at rejuvenating the party’s leadership.
