The search for Deidre Meyer, who was reported missing in mid-April, came to a tragic end today. Her body was discovered at approximately 11:00 AM along Hifikepunye Pohamba Road, roughly 10 kilometers east of the Namib-Naukluft area.

According to Senior Inspector Hilma Shomongula of the Erongo Police, the discovery was made by a local man who had traveled to the nearby mountains for prayer. Upon encountering the lifeless body and an unattended vehicle parked a short distance away, he sought assistance from a passerby who subsequently alerted the Namibian Police.

Meyer, a resident of the Erongo Region, had been reported missing on April 14, 2025. According to a statement from her father, she had left home in her vehicle without disclosing her destination. He further mentioned that she did not consume alcohol, smoke, or frequent bars, making her disappearance particularly concerning.

Police officers responded to the scene and confirmed that the body was lying on the ground, with the vehicle positioned just a few metres away. Authorities noted that all of Meyer’s personal belongings were accounted for at the scene. Only one set of footprints was found in the area.

The remains have since been transported to the local police mortuary for further examination. Police have confirmed that her next of kin have been informed. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death are still ongoing.
