A group of concerned parents and community members in the Zambezi Region have formally petitioned the management of Mafuta Combined School, calling for the removal of a teacher accused of ongoing unprofessional behaviour.
The teacher in question, Malala Precious Mabakeni, who teaches Social Studies and Agriculture to learners in grades 4 to 7, has reportedly been absent from school since the beginning of the current term.
Community spokesperson Richard Kangumu expressed frustration on behalf of the parents, claiming that Mabakeni has a history of arriving late for classes without explanation and allegedly uses inappropriate language when addressing not only students, but fellow staff and even parents.
“She is not only late, but when she does come to school, her lessons lack depth and fail to engage the learners meaningfully,” Kangumu said, adding that such behaviour compromises the quality of education at the school.
Attempts to resolve the matter internally have reportedly yielded no improvements, prompting the community to take collective action through a formal petition.
When reached for comment, Mabakeni reported said she is currently in Windhoek attending medical appointments, but did not directly respond to the specific allegations raised by the parents.
