Cable Damage Causes Rundu Electricity Outage, Supply Expected Back in Four Hours

Parts of Rundu have been left without electricity following damage to an 11kV cable in the central business district, caused by a contractor working on billboards.
The outage has affected areas such as Tutungeni, sections of Nkarapamwe and Safari, as well as Rainbow and Queenspark.
NORED Electricity has confirmed that its technical team has begun repair works and estimates that power supply will be restored within approximately four hours. The team is also carrying out ring reconfiguration to restore at least 90 percent of the town’s load.
Residents have been advised to treat all electrical installations as live during the outage, as electricity will be restored without prior notice. NORED has apologized to customers for the inconvenience caused by the unplanned interruption.
