Police Report
Police report

A two-year-old boy tragically drowned in a container filled with a traditional homemade drink in Muparara village, Mpungu constituency, over the weekend.

The toddler, identified as Samuel Mukava Grant Kasera, reportedly fell into a gallon containing Katokere, a locally brewed beverage.

According to the police, the child’s mother, who is employed as a domestic worker, had been busy with house chores when she noticed her son was missing. After a frantic search, the boy was discovered unresponsive inside the container.

He was rushed to Muparara Clinic, but medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival.

The body has since been taken to the Nkurenkuru police mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Authorities have opened an investigation to establish the circumstances that led to the incident.

Police have once again urged parents and guardians to exercise extreme caution with young children, particularly around hazardous household items and liquids.
