Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare, representing President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, officially opened Namibia’s state-of-the-art hydrogen and clean energy facility, bringing together government officials, European delegates, industry stakeholders, and local community members to celebrate the milestone.
The facility, operated by Cleanergy Solutions Namibia, features a solar-powered, off-grid electrolyser producing hydrogen for both transportation and industrial applications. It also houses a Hydrogen Academy dedicated to training Namibians in emerging hydrogen technologies.
Simbi Gibson made history as the first person in Namibia to drive a hydrogen-powered bus, highlighting the vehicle’s efficiency and sustainable performance during the ceremony.

Hydrogen produced on-site is already powering road vehicles, off-road operations, and off-grid electricity systems, positioning Namibia as a rising energy and logistics hub in Africa’s transition toward renewable energy.
