Namibia has deployed a new team of ambassadors to represent the country in some of the world’s most influential capitals.
Announcing the appointments, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said the envoys were chosen for their diplomatic expertise and are expected to drive Namibia’s international agenda. She reminded them that their mission goes beyond protocol, urging them to focus on economic diplomacy, innovation, and securing opportunities for Namibian talent abroad.
Those appointed include Tonata Emvula (China), Monica Nashandi (Russia), Willbard Elago (United States), Sophia Nangula (Sweden), Benjamin Kandanga (Finland), Jerobeam Shaanika (Germany), Sabine Bohlke Moller (France), Lebbuis Tobias (Cuba), Sipapela Sipapela (Democratic Republic of Congo), and Elvis Shiweda (Switzerland).
The appointments come at a time of shifting global politics, which Nandi-Ndaitwah noted makes their work even more crucial. The ambassadors are also tasked with advancing national goals such as Vision 2030 and the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6).
