The eldest son of Zimbabwe’s late President Robert Mugabe, Robert Mugabe Jr., is scheduled for a court appearance today in Harare following his arrest on allegations of drug possession. The 33-year-old was detained by the police’s Drugs and Narcotics unit and is currently being held at a Harare police station.
Sources close to the matter indicate the arrest followed the alleged discovery of illicit substances in his possession. Reports suggest that authorities found two sachets of cannabis and a quantity of white powder believed to be cocaine, which were allegedly concealed among cash.
While details surrounding the arrest and the specifics of the charges have emerged from sources, the Zimbabwe Republic Police has not yet issued an official statement regarding the case.
Robert Mugabe Jr. is the child of the former head of state who governed Zimbabwe for nearly four decades.
