A potentially serious road accident was narrowly avoided last night at around 22:00 near Sambyu Village, approximately 29 km from Rundu en route to Divundu in the Kavango East Region. According to reports, two trucks were involved—one traveling from Rundu towards Divundu, and the other heading in the opposite direction.
The incident occurred when the truck traveling from Divundu experienced a loss of air pressure, causing the brakes to fail and the steering to become extremely difficult to control. The driver managed to prevent a head-on collision, but both vehicles were placed in a dangerous situation.
One of the drivers sustained moderate injuries and was immediately transported to Rundu State Hospital by Namibia Private Ambulance. The second driver escaped the incident without any injuries.

Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, particularly during nighttime travel, and to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained to prevent mechanical failures on the road.
