Police in Oranjemund are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after a man and a woman were found dead in the early hours of Wednesday at the Bagdad location.
According to police spokesperson Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga, the lifeless bodies of Lizetha Kinda (31) and Willem Jan Johannes Januarie (54) were discovered around 02h10 lying in a pool of blood, with a firearm found between them.
Initial reports indicate that the two were in a relationship and allegedly had a history of domestic violence. It is further believed that Kinda was four months pregnant at the time of her death.
Chief Inspector Kuwinga said the exact circumstances leading to the tragedy are still under investigation, and the next of kin have been informed.
