A 36-year-old man from Maroelaboom has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife in the Otjozondjupa region.

The victim, Nqeisi Dembe, was 29 years old. Her body was found early Tuesday morning, around 7:30 AM, in Kanovlei village.

A person walking by found her lying under a tree and tried to wake her up. When she did not move, the passerby quickly told the parents of the deceased woman, who then went to the location.

Police say that the night before, Dembe and her husband were seen having drinks together at a local bar (cuca shop) before leaving at the same time. When her body was found, she had blood on her mouth and scratches on her back.
