25-year-old woman arrested at IUM Ongwediva over alleged forged certificate

A 25-year-old Namibian woman is in police custody after she was arrested on Friday at the International University of Management (IUM) Ongwediva campus for allegedly submitting a falsified Senior Secondary School certificate.
According to the police, the arrest was made at around 12:45 after IUM officials discovered discrepancies on copies of the academic certificate presented by the suspect. University management reportedly noticed alterations on the document, including symbols that appeared to have been changed using an ink pen.
It is further alleged that a letter was pasted onto some of the copies in an attempt to misrepresent the suspect’s academic results.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police by IUM management, leading to the woman’s arrest. She is currently being held in the Ongwediva Police holding cells.
Police investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to appear before the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 26 January 2026.
