29-Year-Old Arrested After N$838 440 Drug Seizure in Walvis Bay

A 29-year-old Namibian man has been taken into custody following a police operation that uncovered a substantial quantity of suspected illicit drugs in Walvis Bay.
The arrest occurred on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, during a targeted sting conducted at a residence on Astronaut Street. Police acted on intelligence pointing to alleged drug-related activities linked to the property.
During the operation, officers confiscated 14 484 grams of cannabis and 952 full Mandrax tablets. Authorities estimate the street value of the seized drugs at approximately N$838 440.
Erongo Police regional spokesperson Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect is expected to face charges associated with dealing in illicit drugs.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 12 February 2026, while investigations into the matter continue.
