34-Year-Old Woman and Baby’s Father Accused of Abandoning Four-Month-Old at Shebeen

A four-month-old baby was reportedly left without food or proper care at a shebeen in Takarania, Mariental, resulting in the arrest of a 34-year-old woman.
According to reports, the woman and the child’s father allegedly left the infant at the drinking establishment between Thursday and Friday following an incident at the premises. The baby is believed to have remained there for several hours without the necessary care.
A Good Samaritan later found the infant and took him to the Gender-Based Violence Protection Office on Friday, where the matter was reported to authorities.
The woman was subsequently arrested in connection with the alleged abandonment. The second suspect, identified as the father of the children, had not been arrested at the time of reporting and remains at large.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing. The case highlights concerns around the protection and welfare of vulnerable children, particularly infants who depend entirely on adults for their basic needs and safety.
