59-Year-Old Man Loses N$4,500 After Fraudster Promises Fake N$30,000 MTC Prize

A 59-year-old man has reportedly fallen victim to an online fraud scheme after a scammer pretending to be an employee of MTC Namibia allegedly convinced him to provide his bank card information in connection with a fake N$30,000 prize.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday when the victim was contacted by the fraudster, who claimed that he had won a cash reward. The suspect then allegedly requested the man’s banking details under the pretence of processing the prize payment.

After sharing the information, the victim discovered that N$4,500 had been withdrawn from his account.

Authorities continue to warn members of the public to remain cautious of scams involving fake competitions, prizes, and individuals claiming to represent companies. Customers are advised never to share banking details, card information, or personal identification details with unknown persons.

MTC and other service providers have repeatedly urged customers to verify suspicious messages or calls through official communication channels before taking any action.
