62-Year-Old Woman Loses Over N$1 Million to Scammers

62-year-old woman from Olukulo Village in the Tsandi Constituency has lost more than N$1 million in a suspected fraud case currently under investigation by the Omusati Police.
According to Regional Police Commander Commissioner Ismael Bassoon, the incident occurred between 20 and 22 October 2025, when three suspects allegedly pretended to be police officers from Outapi and convinced the victim to share her banking details.
The scammers reportedly used the information to access her FNB account and withdrew a total of N$1,040,240 through unknown means, without the victim’s consent. None of the stolen funds have been recovered.
Commissioner Bassoon confirmed that the suspects remain at large, and investigations are ongoing to track down those responsible.
