70-Year-Old Woman Loses N$170 080 in Bank Scam

A 70-year-old woman fell victim to a banking scam on Friday, 16 January 2026, at approximately 15:25 in the Nubuamis Hills area.

Police reports indicate that an unknown individual posed as an official from Bank Windhoek and convinced the victim to disclose her banking PIN. Using this information, the suspect illegally withdrew N$170 080 from her account.

Authorities have confirmed that the funds have not been recovered, and no arrests have been made so far. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
