78-Year-Old Rehoboth Man Loses N$39,080 in Bank Impersonation Scam

A 78-year-old man in Rehoboth has allegedly lost N$39,080 after a fraudster reportedly posed as a Bank Windhoek representative and obtained his banking information.
The incident happened at around 09:23 on Friday, according to the police. The suspect allegedly contacted the elderly man by phone, claiming to work for the bank, before convincing him to provide his banking details.

Police said N$39,080 was subsequently transferred from the victim’s bank account.
No suspect has been arrested so far, while the stolen money has not been recovered. Police investigations into the case are continuing.
