A 21-Year-Old Shot with Rubber Bullets After Alleged Attempted Theft

A 21-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being shot with rubber bullets during an alleged theft incident near Dune 7 in Walvis Bay early Friday morning.
According to a weekend crime report issued by the Namibian Police, the incident occurred around 02h00 when the man, suspected of attempting to steal property, was confronted by a security guard on duty in the area.
It is alleged that the situation escalated when the suspect reportedly advanced toward the guard while armed with a knife. In response, the guard discharged rubber bullets, hitting the man in the stomach and feet.
The injured suspect was taken to Walvis Bay State Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and is said to be in stable condition.
Police have opened a case of attempted murder, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting are continuing.
